Roy Jones Jr. born January 16, 1969 is an American boxer. As a professional he has captured numerous championships in the Middleweight, Super middleweight, Light heavyweight and Heavyweight divisions. He is the only boxer in history to
start his career as a junior middleweight, and go on to win
a heavyweight title.
Jones left his mark in boxing history when he won the
WBA heavyweight title, becoming the first former middleweight champion to win a Heavyweight title in 106 years.
Roy Jones Jr. has added a first ever 'world' cruiserweight title to his haul after easing to a 12-round unanimous decision win over Zine Eddine Benmakhlouf in Moscow.
Jones Jr. schooled Benmakhlouf throughout the fight, which was stipulated as a "winner takes all" bout with the victor claiming the entire purse.
43-year old Roy Jones Jr. won a ten-round split decision over previously unbeaten yet unheralded Pawel Glazewski in his native Poland. Jones was a solid 3-to-1 favorite.
